# What is GPLClub Updater?

Update and install products from the GPLClub catalog from your WordPress dashboard.

GPLClub Updater is a WordPress plugin that connects a site to the GPLClub catalog. It detects which plugins and which theme on the site have a newer version in the catalog and lets you update them from the WordPress dashboard, without downloading or uploading files.

The Updater also lets you:

* [Restore the previous version](/en/gplclub-updater/rollbacks.md) of a plugin or the theme after an update.
* [Customize the plugin name and author](/en/gplclub-updater/white-label.md) to deliver it under your brand.

Each update or installation uses 1 download credit. All plans include 30 daily credits, which reset at 00:00 UTC. For more information, refer to [Download Limits and Credits](/en/membership-and-account/daily-downloads.md).

## How it works

Each site connects with a key generated in your GPLClub account for its domain. Once connected, the Updater compares the installed plugins and theme with the catalog and shows the available updates on its Dashboard. Updates are not applied automatically: each one is started manually.

## Requirements

* An active membership. If the membership expires, the Updater stops connecting to the catalog; products already installed keep working.
* A user with the Administrator role in WordPress.
* The PHP zip extension (ZipArchive) enabled on the server.

## Plugin updates

Starting with version 3.3.0, GPLClub Updater updates itself through the WordPress update system. New versions appear on the **Plugins** page, can take up to 12 hours to show, and do not use credits.

Versions earlier than 3.3.0 do not update themselves. To move to the current version, download it from [the product page](https://gplclub.com/en/producto/gplclub-updater/) and install it over the existing one.

## Limitations

* Updates are only available on the Updater Dashboard. They do not appear in **Dashboard > Updates** in WordPress.
* Multisite management tools, such as MainWP, ManageWP, or Modular DS, do not detect Updater updates.
* You cannot update several products at once or schedule automatic updates.
